Planning notes
How roof pitch is measured
Pitch is the angle of the roof above horizontal. Rise is the vertical height and run is the horizontal distance from the wall line towards the ridge. Both measurements must use the same unit.
The result can be expressed in degrees, as a percentage, or as a one-in ratio. For example, a 25% slope rises one unit for every four horizontal units and is written as 1 in 4.
Roofing profiles and tile systems have specific minimum pitch, overlap and installation requirements. Always confirm the selected product specification and site drainage conditions before design or installation.
